about

The Last River is a healing song.
It was born from a dream, and ten years later has emerged as an epic instrumental song story. The last river describes the cycle of water, as well as the cycle of life, death and rebirth.
The song guides the listener on a journey through all the stages of the water cycle, also symbolizing the depth of beauty created when our unique voices listen closely to one another, leaving space for one another, creating a profound richness in harmony and emotional connection.

Special thanks and acknowledgment:
All my gratitude for WATER herself, without which, nothing would exist as we know it.
Thank you for the river of music which has come before me and that will flow after me.
It is my hope that this song will inspire the sacred water protectors in all of us. From these waters spring my loves too numerous to mention.
Family, friends, mentors, students, forest defenders, water protectors - thank you for believing in me even when I didn’t believe in myself.
I am grateful for my dreams and this beautiful land which has provided me with so much joy, food, refuge and spiritual nature connection.
Thanks to Don Conley for teaching me the Grieg technique that sounds like water falling, for the introduction of the song and for reigniting my passion for piano.
Thank you to Sarah Kerman, my dearest lifelong friend, for the crazy wonderful idea of getting a degree in jazz piano and for bringing Marina into this world for whom this song was written.
Thanks to a couple great composers for the passages I quoted from Beethoven’s Moonlight sonata’s presto movement and Michael Nyman’s the heart asks pleasure first from the Piano soundtrack.
And of course a huge thanks to the musicians whose beautiful voices were captured in time, I am so grateful for what you all contributed.
